CI attends luxury travel show in Vegas

The Cayman Islands attended the Luxury Travel Expo at the Las Vegas Convention Centre in Las Vegas, Nevada last month, represented by a team from the Ministry of Tourism and Department of Tourism, led by Minister of Tourism Charles Clifford.

‘The Luxury Travel Expo provided the Cayman Islands with a great opportunity to showcase its luxury product and to network with travel agents who specialize in selling high-end vacations,’ said Minister Clifford.

The Luxury Travel Expo is the world’s largest gathering of travel professionals dedicated to the luxury market and it provides an unrivalled education programme for travel agents. The DoT was a part of this educational programme, conducting several travel agent seminars which highlighted the allure of the Cayman Islands to the luxury consumer, said the release.

‘The event brings together executives from top hotels, resorts, hotel chains, cruise lines, tour operators, CVBs, tourist boards, transportation, travel industry associations and other luxury suppliers,’ said the press release.

Prior to the trade show opening, wedding and honeymoon industry consultant Rebecca Grinnals hosted a Cayman Islands seminar, ‘Romancing the Cayman Bride … and Beyond’.

‘Travel agents learned why the Cayman Islands is fast becoming one of the hottest destination wedding locations on earth, and received an update on improved locations, resorts, and services available for weddings and honeymoons of all sizes.’

With an attendance of more than 3,000 travel agents, the Expo provided DoT with a platform to not only showcase the destination, but also to promote its very successful rewards programmes and recruit potential new specialists, reads the release.

‘The Luxury Travel Expo enabled the Cayman Islands to connect with travel agents whose clientele on average spend more on their vacations and more while on island,’ said Pilar Bush, Director of Tourism.
