Virtual classroom lectures offered from Cayman

Diving with a difference is to take place this week at Sunset House.

‘From January 14 – 21, 2006 the Imaging Foundation team will be at Sunset House and will launch their newest endeavour,’ explains a press release from Sunset House.

According to its website, Imaging Foundation’s mission is to engage participants in imagery products, which will immerse them in a life transforming experience, while creating educational productions.

Participants on the Cayman trip will help prepare classroom ‘virtual’ lectures. Teacher Melissa Martinez will travel with the group to Cayman to coordinate a series of short classes which will be uploaded live from the Caribbean to her third grade students in remote Ashland, Wisconsin. ‘Be part of the ‘faculty’ as we answer student questions – live – and show these young scientists why we love our underwater world,’ says the release.

Pristine Cayman diving will begin each day, it continues. ‘Our still and video imagery will be woven together into the daily classroom uploads. Apple Computers will be on hand to supply equipment and expertise to ensure that we successfully get kids excited about our oceans.’

‘We will dive with a purpose, teach kids and, as always, add key images to the Imaging Foundation collection,’ the release goes on.

‘Photographers interested in learning about digital workflow can work alongside our professionals and will learn insider secrets. Interested participants do not need any prior experience; just come with a willingness to learn, meet great people and make a difference.’
