The Cayman Islands Bankers’ Association has will hold its 2006 biennial conference 22-23 May.
The theme is ‘the changing face of banking – the future of banking in the Cayman Islands’
Springstreet Communications, an experienced international conference organiser, and Tower Marketing, one of Cayman’s leading marketing and event management agencies, are sponsoring the event.
This year’s conference will be hosted at the new Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.
‘The theme of the conference captures the dynamic development of the international banking sector over the past decade’ explained Bankers’ Association President Mr Eduardo D’Angelo P. Silva.
‘Increased synergies between banking and other key sectors such as mutual funds and insurance and technological and regulatory developments have all resulted in changes in the international banking environment and the conference intends to address many of these topics,’ Mr Silva said. ‘As Cayman is a leader across a wide spectrum of financial services, it is the ideal venue to reflect on the synergies between banking and other sectors.’
Topics such as IT forensics, private banking, new international markets for banking and preparation for Basel II – one of the most anticipated international regulatory changes in the banking area in recent history – are just some of the many to be discussed at the event.
Mr Silva also revealed that the results of an economic impact study for the banking and trust sector will be released at this year’s event as well as an extensive panel discussion on the relationship between immigration and the business sector in the Cayman Islands. In addition to local experts, the event will also feature international speakers such as Tom Valle, senior vice president Investments UBS International Inc.; David Kincaid, president and CEO, Level5 Strategic Brand Advisors; and James J. Campbell, organisational development consultant.
‘We have put a lot into this year’s conference and are expecting it to be an exciting and valuable conference for all attendees,’ said Mr Silva.
