The heat is on for this year’s most romantic dining evening, with many restaurants already booked up for Valentine’s Day and others hot on the their heels.
Grand Old House was booked out about three weeks in advance of the occasion, with a good mix of local residents and tourists making up the diners.
The Lighthouse Restaurant was pretty much booked out by the end of last week and by today both Calypso Grill and Castaways were expecting to be solidly booked up.
All three of the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman’s restaurants, Blue by Eric Ripert, Periwinkle by Eric Ripert and 7 have also been booked out a few weeks in advance for Valentine’s Day. This comes in line with the entire hotel being booked up this week by a large US corporate company.
However, the Silver Palm Lounge does have some specials for local couples who would like to come in for a romantic drink – no reservations required. These are available from 12 to 14 February and include:
• Valentine enchantment: $99 – 1 Bottle of Ritz-Carlton Champagne, assortment of Tuxedo Strawberries, a rose for the lady;
• Martini Special – $10 – The Valentini (Stoli Razberi- Champagne – Lime Juice – Chambord);
• 2 Cute for 2 – $34 – 2 Bottles of POP Champagne; assortment of chocolate covered strawberries; rose for the lady.
Although bookings are going well at the Westin’s Casa Havana restaurant, there are still some openings. Besides the regular a la carte menu there is a special Valentine’s Day menu of six courses that costs $95 per person with wine and $75 without.
At Ferdinand’s restaurant there is a four course meal that costs $52 per person without wine, along with the regular a la carte menu.
At the end of last week Hemmingways Restaurant still had some availability for the 14th. A special Valentine’s a la carte menu gives the diner a choice of four entrees, three desserts, with appetisers from the tapas menu.
Portofino Wrecks View Restaurant has a special Valentine’s menu at $39.95 per person, and the regular menu is also an option.
