God is the ultimate judge

As I have read so many letters to the editor of late condemning the Church and Christians for their stand against the homosexual behaviour, I was reminded of the psalmist’s question in Psalm 2:1 – Why do the heathen rage and the people imagine a vain thing?

This Psalm shows an almighty, eternal God sitting on the throne of heaven in power and majesty with the rule book, the Bible, and sinful man raging and kicking against it. No matter how much mankind rages by trying to discredit the Christian or make him appear foolish, God still has His rule book that will never change. Sin is still sin and God holds the rules over mankind.

Yes, God loves the sinner, but God hates his sin.

Because God is holy, He cannot tolerate sin, nor will He ever. God’s rules of moral conduct for mankind will always remain the same. God’s word still says it is an abomination for man to lie with man, or woman with woman.

God’s word still says that murder (including abortion) is wrong. Adultery, fornication, stealing, lying, and evil of any sort is wrong; they are sins.

Whether governments, or kings, or rulers, or sinners or anybody likes it or not, the word of God is still pure, and sure, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. Whether all the forces of the so-called human rights organizations in the world like it or not, or whatever forces are out there raging, it does not change the Bible one little bit.

The Christian has been accused of judging the sinner so many times by the ones who would say don’t judge that the word has been run right into the ground. The sinner has judged himself by his very actions, and God has judged him. By the way, we should probably empty out Northward Prison because everyone there has been judged and not only judged but sentenced as well. The Bible does say by their fruits they shall know them.

It also says to judge righteous judgment. And yet the Christian has been judged by the very ones who say not to judge. They say that we hate the sinner while Jesus loved them and had compassion on them. How do they know we hate? They don’t know our hearts. The very ones saying not to judge are judging. Interesting!

Another expression that has been run into the ground is “they are two consenting adults, so they’re not hurting anyone else.” You’ve got to be kidding! You’ve never heard of AIDS? This is a world-wide epidemic spread basically from the homosexual lifestyle that has killed over 32 million people.

And you say not hurting anyone? Or you say that adultery or fornication with two consenting adults doesn’t hurt anyone? Again, you’ve got to be kidding! Have you not heard the cries and stories of all the hurting women or men who have been rejected, or the children who are torn apart? Social Services has its hands full as a result of the sinful life styles of mom and dad. And no one is hurt? Have you not heard of all the sexually transmitted diseases being spread as a result of fornication and loose living? No one is hurt? What about the man who wants to go out and drink and get drunk? He’s only hurting himself? Who are we kidding? In the States more people are killed per year by drunk drivers than were killed during the entire 10 years of the Vietnam War. And there’s been plenty killed right here by drunk drivers. No one is hurt by our sin? Who are we kidding?

So why do the heathen rage? 1) The carnal heart is not under the control of God, and indeed cannot be. So it rages. There is no discipline applied to mankind at any stage of his life. As a young child we say, “don’t correct, we’ll warp his personality. We’ll give him emotional problems.”

As he grows up we find something or someone to blame for his unruly behaviour. We let him express himself in any area of life he chooses, until he has no discipline, no control, and is not subject to God or man; so he rages against any rules or restrictions. Take discipline out of the home and the schools and raise little terrors. Do away with the Bible, deny the fact that God means what He says and says what He means. But God still has the rule book and man rages because he can’t get out from under or free from it.

Kings and rulers rise and fall as God allows, and are supposed to uphold, govern, and enforce the laws of what is right under God including the moral laws.

If the governments of the world would fulfil their God-ordained commission to uphold the moral values as set forth in His word, the church would not have to cry out. But instead they harden their hearts as Pharaoh did, and take counsel together to tear down every thing that’s valuable. But no matter how much raging goes on against God and His Word, His Word is forever settled in heaven. No matter what you say about the alternate lifestyles, or all the immorality that goes on, God’s word still stands. He loves the sinner and asks them to repent, but His love has not, does not, nor ever will condone their sin.

So why do the heathen rage? 2) Because the whole world is trying to free themselves from the restrictions of the Bible. They hate the rules and want to make all kinds of sin legal under the title of human rights or non-discrimination. However, God is still in His Heaven, on His throne, unmoved, in control and Psalm 2:4-9 says God will have the final say. He will laugh at the wicked; speak to them in His wrath. He will break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces as a potter’s vessel.

“The Lord knoweth the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.” Psalm 1:6
