The Cayman Islands team to the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games was formally received into the Games Village on this week. Alden Mclaughlin, Minister of Sports, was present at the flag raising ceremony. The Cayman Islands flag was raised and the National Song played as the athletes and officials were welcomed into the Village by the Mayor of the Village. The Village is home to 6,000 athletes and officials from 71 Commonwealth countries for the next two weeks. The Cayman Islands are represented in Athletics Swimming, Cycling, Squash and Shooting with the largest team ever sent to these Games.
