A big thank-you

There is a common expression that gives some affirmation in saying ‘the past is history and no one can change it.’ Well, one year and six months later I will attempt to defy the validity of that expression by changing the feelings of those kind and conscientious people and countries on a whole that have supported the people of the Cayman Islands in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan.

These people may feel that we have no gratitude as we may not have expressed our gratitude in an open forum. As for one among many I’m sure, I have taken account of all the kind words, well-wishing and the financial support and other assistance that was poured upon us. As my attempt to defy that expression somewhat, I would like to take the time out to express my gratitude as an individual and on behalf of my people and country, I say a big thank-you to each and every one of you.

While there are many things I could say a thank-you for, I will put emphasis on yet another important kind of supportive people. These people are our tourists and I feel nothing less than to give each and every individual, family and group an exclusively big thank-you for your support in the past, prior to and after Hurricane Ivan and presently, even those of you that have already committed to a vacation to our islands.

Last but not least, those that will make the Cayman Islands your choice of destination in the near or distant future. For those that have visited, I sincerely hope that you have enjoyed your visit to our Islands and invite you to return. For those that will make the Cayman Islands your choice, we hope that your visit will be most enjoyable. Again, I say a big thank-you and give invitation to be seconded by my fellow Caymanians and others alike who will express their appreciation through this media.
