Elmslie United Church celebrated the end of the 40 Days of Purpose Campaign with a huge fellowship lunch on Easter Sunday under a large tent close to the church.
Some 300 people attended. Men, women and children took part in an Easter Bonnet parade and the children enjoyed an Easter egg hunt. Musical entertainment was provided by church members ranging from traditional hymns and choruses to a specially composed rap.
Testimonies were given by some as to the effect the course had on them and all agreed that having everyone together at this time made it a very special occasion.
The event was the culmination of a six-week series of studies on the topic ‘What on Earth Are We Here For?’ which was developed by Rick Warren at the Saddleback Church in California.
The series focused on our reasons for life on this Earth covering the five topics of ministry, fellowship, discipleship, missions and worship.
