Two become paralegals

Marilyn Nasirun and Lyne Bodden have completed their studies and are now qualified paralegals.

Ms Nasirun came to Ogier in 1999 in the capacity of legal secretary as part of the Local Practice Team. In 2001 she completed a course in Business Law at the University College Cayman Islands and during the last year she has been a student of the UK based Institute of Legal Executives, Cayman studying her Level 2 Certificate in Vocational Paralegal Studies, which course provides training in general principles of law.

‘I am pleased that Marilyn has been able to expand her knowledge and skills and I welcome her ability to play a more leading role within the firm. She is client oriented, understands the importance of attending to detail and is now an even more valuable member of the Local Practice Team,’ said Daniel Priestley, who heads the Local Practice Team at Ogier.

Ms Bodden, who has been working with Ogier since 2003 as a legal secretary with the Investment Funds Team commented: ‘noticing that paralegals were the new wave and wanting to go further ahead in life, I decided to enroll in the 3-year Paralegal/Legal Assistant part-time distance education certificate program with Capilano College, Canada. I thank my husband for all his support and encouragement and also to the partners, staff and friends at Ogier.’

‘At Ogier we operate as a meritocracy. We admire and support our lawyers and staff who take the initiative and who thirst to always learn more and to achieve higher goals. We are pleased that we were able to support Marilyn and Lyne through their period of additional training and promote them from secretarial positions to paralegal roles within our organisation,’ said Giorgio Subiotto, partner at Ogier.

Ogier is an equal opportunity employer that greatly values the contributions of its staff and makes every effort to encourage educational and practical skills development. If you are interested in pursuing a career with Ogier, contact the human resources department by email at [email protected]
