Ms Ambuyah Ebanks says she is enthusiastic about her involvement in the 2006 Miss Universe Pageant.
She arrived in Los Angeles for pre-pageant events on 5 July and has since been involved in various activities with the other contestants.
This event follows her trip to New York, where she purchased the remainder of her outfits under the guidance of Ms Lana Cayasso, head of wardrobe on the Miss Cayman Committee.
Colombian designer Arango made Miss Cayman’s landing dress; interview suit; and her red carpet and cocktail dresses, as well as her pageant gown and all accessories. He also assisted with other pageant familiarities, such as walking and makeup.
Miss Cayman’s national costume, which depicts the colours of the ocean, was designed by Gerald Hart of the Harts Carnival Costume Band in Trinidad. He is the only designer to win the best national costume at a Miss Universe Pageant two years in a row.
‘The Miss Cayman Islands Committee is confident that Ms Ebanks will make her country proud, and we wish her the best of luck as she embarks upon this venture,’ said Ms Lynne Whittaker, chairperson of the Miss Cayman Committee.
