Canadian film crew explore Cayman

A Canadian TV channel, CTV, was on Grand Cayman last week filming footage for programme Living the Life.

The film crew – from Tricorn Films and Television – toured the island visiting many of Cayman’s hot spots.

The programme, which will air in September on CTV – A Canadian national network – aims to re-create the life of a celebrity while holidaying at some of the world’s top destinations, Sarah Braithwaite, marketing and communications representative for the Cayman Island’s department of tourism, Canada, said.

‘Living the Life is about recreating what a celebrity couple would do while holidaying,’ she said.

Ms Braithwaite said that the show features 12 destinations in the series, including St. Tropez in France, Dubai and the Dominican Republic. Each destination features a different theme, the Cayman Islands’ theme being island of romance.

Married couple Brent Jackson and Liz King, from Canada, were treated to the life of a celebrity during their stay in Cayman. The couple were celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary.

They stayed at the Westin resort, were treated to spa treatments at the Ritz-Carlton’s La Prairie Silver Rain spa, visited Stingray City on a private yacht with Captain Mark Ebanks, went kayaking in the mangroves with Cayman Kayaks and checked out Sapphire bar and lounge – one of Cayman’s trendiest nightspots. They were also treated to a private dinner on the beach from Casa Havana.

The loved-up couple then put the perfect ending to their one week trip by renewing their wedding vows in a beachfront ceremony at the Westin resort – a popular wedding venue.

The film crew also captured footage from across the island, visiting Boatswain’s Beach, Rum Point, Pedro Castle, Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park, Black Pearl Skate Park and George Town.

Living the Life will air on E! in the US, Discovery UK and on CTV. Air dates are to be confirmed.
