Cayman Free Press helped celebrate the re-opening of the George Town Public Library last week by presenting 12 copies of its recent publication Islands from the Sea: Geologic Stories of Cayman.
Mrs. Benedicta Conolly, Director of Public Libraries, welcomed the reference book and the fact that enough copies were contributed for each district library to have two. One book will remain in the permanent reference section, while readers will be able to borrow the other.
Mrs. Conolly especially admired the colourful photos and illustrations that accompany the text.
‘People will like this,’ she predicted. ‘It’s full of information I know our patrons will use.’
She said the library is rebuilding its collection, following losses from the destruction of materials by Hurricane Ivan in September 2004.
