Calico Jacks Bar & Grill is celebrating its second birthday with a celebratory bash this Saturday.
The event, hosted by ‘Chambers’ from O Bar and sponsored by Absolute Vodka, will include a sandcastle competition, conch fritter eating contest, tug of war, water-relay race and egg toss, running throughout the day from 1pm.
Teams of four – minimum of two girls on each – are encouraged to enter. Fees for each team are $20, with all proceeds going to the Cayman Islands National Recovery Fund.
Todd Paidel, Calico Jacks manager, is urging teams to turn up early to start work on the sandcastles to be in with a chance to win.
He added there is room for up to 20 teams. Each team will be allocated a 10-foot by 10-foot plot for the sandcastle, which they can work on throughout the day in-between participating in the other events.
Prizes are ample and include helicopter and parasailing trips, TVs, resort stays, stereo systems and meals for two.
Although there is no theme for the sandcastle competition, Mr. Paidel said: ‘Keep in mind our major sponsor – they are the ones judging the event.’
The event culminates with DJs spinning the tunes from 8pm to get everyone in the party mood.
