Members of the Cayman Musicians and Entertainers Association gathered Friday to witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding by radio broadcasting representatives.
The MOU states their radio stations will play at least one locally produced song per hour during the hours of 6am until 12am.
Signing the agreement were Steve Koranda from Heaven 97.7, Kenny Rankin from VIBE and SPIN, Norma McField from Radio Cayman, Dennis Landriault from Ocean 95.5, Clive Rosteing, president of CMEA, and Randy Merren of Z-99 and Rooster 101.
Mr. Rosteing called the occasion ‘a great day for local music.’
Inaugural CMEA president Edlin Myles said: ‘This is like a dream come true. Back in the ’80s when we formed the association, this was the kind of thing we talked about.’
