The second half of the 2006 open water swim season kicks off this weekend with the ‘Inside Additions’ 800m sea swim being held this Saturday, September 16th at 4:00pm. The race will start in front of the Governor’s House on Seven Mile Beach, and finish at Public Beach.
The Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association has made some changes to the sea swim calendar for the remainder of the year. The 2-mile swim has been moved to the 7th of October, with a two-person relay option being added to the event for those that don’t want to swim the entire 2-mile distance, and the 18th Annual CUC 800m sea swim will be held the 28th of October. The season ends with the 26th Texaco Pirates Week 5k swim on the 11th of November. A 10k option has been added to this event to challenge our more adventurous swimmers, and to give swim organizers an opportunity to prepare for hosting longer-distance, international open water competitions in the future.
The Swim Association is pleased to be affiliated with ‘Inside Additions’, a full service residential remodeling company including kitchens and total renovations, operated by long-time swim-volunteer David Alexander. Registration for the ‘Inside Additions’ 800 Meter sea swim will be held in the Governor’s Beach parking area prior to the race, from 3:00 to 3:45pm. Entry fees for CIASA Members are CI$5 for children and CI$10 for adults, while non-members pay CI$10 for children and CI$15 for adults.
