After a two-year hiatus, Cayman Little League will again be holding an Auction, Saturday, 25 November, as a fundraiser to help service the debt on their Field of Dreams facility.
Little League, independent and now 16 years old, has run free softball and baseball programs for the children of Cayman for it’s duration, the last ten-plus years at the Field of Dreams. The four-diamond ball park was built with children as the primary focus and rented out to adult and other leagues.
The all-volunteer program has struggled since Hurricane Ivan visit in 2004, yet has managed to run ball programs and repair the damage. Fundraising took a backseat to home and family and kids. The Auction is a time when the League looks to the entire Cayman Islands community for donations.
The Little League Auction has earned a reputation as a fun fundraiser. ‘One of the great things about an auction is we can take advantage of almost any kind of donation,’ said an organizer. ‘Physical things, services, experiences, especially the unusual things, anything people want to do or have is appreciated and used effectively. And the evening itself is good adult fun. The people-watching and competitive shopping, shall we say, is a blast.’
Tickets are not yet on sale but will be sold as tables of ten. For more info contact: Sara Mackay at 947-1572 [email protected] , Jeanette Totten [email protected] or Penny Hatch [email protected]
