Chef promotes culinary tourism abroad

Vidyadhara Shetty, Executive Sous Chef at the Hyatt Regency Beach Suites and President of the Cayman Islands Culinary Society recently travelled to Toronto, Canada to promote culinary tourism in the Cayman Islands.

Mr. Shetty was featured at a very exclusive event at the Bayview Village Shopping Centre and appeared on the popular morning news show Breakfast Television in Toronto, said a press release from the Department of Tourism.

Working with the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism in Canada, Mr. Shetty was featured at an exclusive event at the Bayview Village Shopping Centre LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) store in Toronto. The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism invited select members of the media and worked with Amex Collacutt Travel Agency (located at Bayview Village Shopping Centre) to invite some of their prominent clientele to enjoy a cooking demonstration by Mr. Shetty along with wine pairings selected by the LCBO store.

The release explains that guests were treated to Lobster Corn Fritters, Ceviche of Marlin, Caribbean Jerk Spiced Tuna, Caribbean Jerk Spiced Pork, and tasty Banana Fritters in Honey Rum Sauce.

On 11 October Mr. Shetty was also featured on Toronto’s number one morning show Breakfast Television. While being interviewed by the host Dina Pugliese, he prepared marlin with corn chowder and spoke of the many reasons Canadians should visit the Cayman Islands.
