Treats await FCCA delegates

Amidst an overwhelming schedule of meetings, delegates at the 13th annual FCCA Caribbean Cruise Conference & Trade Show are sure to want to take the time to mingle and relax between events.

As the host nation, the Cayman Islands has planned several social functions, which will allow conference participants the opportunity to unwind, exchange business cards and ideas over good food and simply experience the Cayman Islands and this is where the Social Committee Task Force and its Chair Kenneth Hydes come into play.

The task force is working hard behind the scenes to ensure that every delegate has exciting post-meeting diversions and the chance to be a guest at what promises to be the most memorable social calendar in the history of FCCA conferences, states a press release.

Hydes and his team have organised exciting events, including an official welcome party for delegates on the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman’s beach, a challenging golf tournament, a Cayman Extravaganza at the new Royal Watler Cruise Ship Terminal, and the pinnacle event, an evening celebrating local history and traditions at Boatswain’s Beach, the island’s new 23-acre marine theme park, home to the world famous Cayman Turtle Farm. Hydes is up for the challenge of Social Committee Task Force Chair, having participated in a number of large-scale events in the past, including the annual Taste of Cayman.

Hydes has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the cruise industry.

‘With over 70 per cent of our visitors being cruise passengers, the cruise industry has always been a key partner for Boatswain’s Beach,’ said Mr. Hydes. ‘The FCCA Conference will create the opportunity to build on past successes while also contributing to the overall growth of tourism in the Cayman Islands.’

Given the high distinction as the cultural event of the FCCA Conference, Boatswain’s Beach will offer guests a true Caymanian experience. It will be a night of decadent dining, discovery and dancing. Traditional Caymanian fare such as fried fish, fish stew, conch, turtle and heavy cakes will be served. Following the feast, delegates can participate in unique activities ranging from thatch weaving and rope making to kite construction and gig spinning. And, to top off the festivities, local bands will be on hand to serenade guests as they dance under the stars.

‘We are very much looking forward to hosting the cruise executives and delegates from around the world, and we welcome the opportunity to show them the hospitality and vitality of Cayman,’ Mr. Hydes said. ‘Cruising is very important to both the economy of the Cayman Islands and the community. In hosting these events we have the opportunity to build an even stronger relationship with individual delegates, countries and the cruise industry as a whole.’
