Fashionable, furry fundraiser

The dogs took to the catwalk Saturday at the Ritz-Carlton as the Cayman Islands Humane Society staged its annual fashion show fundraiser.

Tino, Eve, Trudy, Booth and Olive were the stars of the show, modelling real fur coats for the animal-loving audience.

The parade of shelter dogs – all available for adoption – was the highlight of an entertaining evening. The event also included cocktails, canapés, raffles and, of course, a collection of stunning designs modelled by Humane Society volunteers.

‘It was very successful – one of the best ever,’ said Humane Society President Giuseppe Gatta, noting the Ritz venue gave the fundraiser added pizzazz.

The gala event, which has been staged for 18 years, attracted more than 200 people.

All of the outfits modelled were donated to the Humane Society Thrift Shop. They are available for purchase after the show along with a collection of other donated fashions.

It was the first time shelter animals were included in the show and organisers said they plan to make it an annual happening.
