Destra headlines Pirates Week finale

Revellers can look forward to a performance by Trinidadian Soca diva Destra Garcia, this Saturday as part of the annual Pirates Week festivities, a press release said.

The event, held on the waterfront in George Town, will also feature DJ Eternal Vibes from MIX 96 out of Miami Florida and KES.

Destra is well known for her sexy style, harmonious vocal talent and high energy performances, specializing in pop-sounding soca compositions as well as fusion music encompassing aspects of East Indian culture. Her most popular hits, include Max it up Jumpin and It’s Carnival.

In 2003 Destra released her first album Red, White, Black, which included her hit duet It’s Carnival with Machel Montano. The song became the virtual anthem of Trinidad and Tobago Carnival and its popularity continues to live strong throughout the Caribbean.

The Pirates Week finale will kick-off at 7:30pm with the Trial of the Pirates, followed by a magnificent display of fireworks prior to the evening’s musical entertainment.
