Round three of the Waterford Private Residence Club Alex Alexander Memorial League was completed on Saturday at the SSG with the HSBC Under 19 Academy playing the 2005/2006 Waterford Cup Champion BPC Buccaneers and the unbeaten Don Fosters Dive Iguanas hosting the Queensgate Pigs Trotters.
The HSBC under 19 Academy came into Saturday’s game on the end of a sound beating by the Don Fosters Dive Iguanas the week before and were determined to perform better this week against a weakened BPC Buccaneers side that has been plagued by injuries this season. The game was an excellent display of running Rugby from both sides and in the dying seconds of the match the HSBC Academy side ran in the try of the season so far from one end to the other to clinch the game 25 points to 22 and give them their first win of the season as well as a well earned bonus point for scoring five tries.
In the second game the Queensgate Pigs Trotters applied some early pressure on the Don Fosters Dive Iguanas to keep the scores fairly level.
As the game went on however the Iguanas started to accelerate away from the Pigs Trotters and despite some excellent forward work from the Pigs the Iguanas back line proved to be too much for the Pigs and as the game concluded the scores rested at 41 – 11 to the Iguanas.
