The Cayman Islands recently participated in two high-profile travel shows at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas to promote both romance and overall tourism to the destination.
At the eighth annual Luxury Travel Expo, Cayman showcased its unique brand of tropical luxury with a booth that focused on the destination wedding and romantic offerings of all three islands. At the Home-Based Travel Agent Expo & Conference, delegates from the Cayman Islands attended seminars and workshops on the tourism industry, said a press release from the Department of Tourism.
Held 5 -7 December at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, the Luxury Travel Expo brought together more than 4,000 travel professionals to learn about luxury products, companies and international travel destinations. Representatives from distinguished companies such as The Ritz-Carlton, Classic Vacations and American Express joined staff from the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism in seminars on topics ranging from honeymoon marketing to high-end adventure travel vacations.
The Home-Based Travel Agent Expo & Conference provided attendees with the chance to hear presentations from more than 200 domestic and international travel suppliers and tourism departments. As an added bonus, the Department of Tourism held a drawing, with the Grand Prize of two tickets on Cayman Airways from any of their gateway cities to Grand Cayman and a four-night stay at the luxurious Westin Casuarina Resort. Minister of Tourism Charles Clifford presented travel agent Peggy Patella from North Carolina with her prize.
The Cayman Islands also held a drawing for a dream trip to Cayman to close out the Luxury Travel Expo, and Mr. Clifford was on hand to select the winning entry – Michael Schoenberger of Las Vegas, Nevada.
