X107.1 has launched a new community initiative, ‘Kruz and Jen’s Teacher of the Week’ as part of its new morning show, Kruz and Jen in the AM.
During the new segment, which airs every Wednesday at 7.30am, X107.1 will honour a teacher in Cayman, says a press release.
Anyone can nominate a potential candidate by dropping off a letter at the studios in the Mirco Center, or by visiting www.x1071.ky, and telling X107.1 why your favourite teacher should be named Kruz and Jen’s Teacher of the Week.
The first person to be honoured as Kruz and Jen’s Teacher of the Week is Vilence Buchanan, a Year 11 science teacher at St. Ignatius. She was nominated by a group of students who are presently gaining work experience at X107.1 and dms Broadcasting. J-Kruz and Jen presented Ms Buchanan with an official certificate and a X107.1 prize pack.
Kruz commented: ‘Ms Buchanan is clearly well loved and respected by her students. She was an easy pick for our first honouree because her enthusiasm to make science interesting and fun was very apparent. Her positive and encouraging words for girls to get involved in science were also very inspiring.’
Jen commented: ‘Sometimes we forget what a challenging and difficult job teachers have. J-Kruz and I would like to take the time each week during the show to honour those who make learning exciting and enjoyable for their students.’
If your business would like to take part in ‘Kruz and Jen’s Teacher of the Week’ program, please contact J-Kruz, Programme Director, at [email protected] or 943-1367. The station is looking for gifts to present to the teacher honoured each week.
