Loss of cruisers a positive

The possible loss of cruise ship passengers from Cayman to Cuba is perhaps very real.

As a repeat visitor who stays on the island a couple of times a year, I see it as no loss.

Many people who want to stay for a week are afraid when they hear about how crowded SMB and Stingray City become when the cruisers are in and choose other destinations.

Cruisers do not care about the local flavor and history of Cayman.

Lobby for more direct flights and concentrate on visitors who will come and spend their money for a week at a time. Get rid of the cattle boats that turn up on Stingray Sandbar.

This could be positive for the people of GC – even traffic wise – for the environment and for the country’s image if the right steps are taken.

Good luck!
