Cruise calls to slow in second quarter

Congestion in George Town should ease up somewhat as the cruise season slows down into the second quarter of the year.

April is the busiest month of the next quarter, with a total of 195,231 passenger potential if ships are at full capacity. May and June could see 141,699 and 106,632 passengers respectively if ships are full.

April sees a total of 72 calls from 33 vessels; in May the schedule shows 46 calls from 18 vessels and in June there are scheduled to be 34 calls from 13 vessels.

Busiest days in April are Wednesday 11, with seven, and Thursday 5 and Tuesday 17, with six ships calling.

The busiest day in May is the first, when there are five ships in port.

In June the busiest days are when there are four ships in port. These days are Wednesday 6, Thursday 14, Wednesday 20 and Thursday 28.
