The Cayman National Orchestra is holding an evening of classical music – Symphony by the Sea – at newly-opened Cracked Conch restaurant.
The intimate evening, on Wednesday, 4 April, from 7pm, will feature a three-course dinner with wine, accompanied by performances of popular classical pieces, including composers such as Mozart, Handel and Brahms.
Some 12 members, from the 18-strong orchestra, will be performing at the event, which will include a number of duets, trios and chamber pieces, played during the meal.
Sue Horrocks, director of the Cayman National Orchestra, said the music will be very light.
‘We don’t want to give anyone ingestion,’ she quipped. ‘It will be very light, easy listening.’
The event is a fundraiser for the Cayman National Orchestra, with part proceeds from the ticket sales going to help fund the orchestra’s summer concert.
Among the meal choices served for the event, is the restaurant’s famed Conch Chowder, jerked duck breast with a lightly curried plantain chutney, steamed snapper with coconut milk and sweet peppers. A white and dark chocolate mousse with fresh port wine berries will be served for dessert.
Tickets, limited to 100, are $65 and include a welcome glass of champagne and dinner. Contact the Cracked Conch, located on Northwest Point Road, on 945-5217, or email [email protected]. Alternatively, visit www.crackedconch.com.ky.
