‘It was very important for us to distinguish between our residential and business services and by adding three plans to the scope of business plans we are more able provide the necessary services to best meet our business client’s needs.’ said Anthony Ritch vice president of Broadband and Voice, Cable & Wireless (Cayman Islands) Ltd.

Broadband customers will now enjoy faster connection speeds, without a higher price tag. The Cable & Wireless residential entry-level plan now provides 512Kbps download speeds for only $40 per month, and their top ADSL business plan now delivers download speeds of 4Mbps, states a press release.

Depending on the customer demands, this will mean faster downloading of documents, programmes, games, photographs, and music. Or in the case of a business, this will result in increased productivity related to its web-server and e-mail communications. Included with the speed upgrade are other value added benefits, specific to each market segment.

‘We are very confident that our existing and new customers will see the value in these new plans. We are very proud to be able to offer our customers these enhanced benefits at no extra cost,’ said Mr. Ritch. ‘Our last broadband upgrade took place in 2005 and we felt that to meet the demands of our customers that it was time to further enhance the service. In all, seven new plans have been introduced.’

Residential Broadband customers have the choice of four plans. The speed of the lowest plan has been doubled and the speeds of the additional three plans have been increased by up to 50 per cent.

Residential customers will also have the option of choosing no contract plans. These new plans cater to the needs of those who would rather not sign a contract as well as to those who may only spend a portion of the year in the Cayman Islands.

Finally, residential customers will also enjoy increased email storage, from 10Mb to 25Mb, free Hot-spot Access, and all existing features that they’ve come to rely on from Cable & Wireless.

Broadband plans for business customers have been increased from one plan to three, which are designed specifically to meet the needs of businesses in Cayman. Aside from speed increases, all business plans include a wireless modem, DNS hosting to provide an identity on the web, and a static IP address, which will allow hosting of web and email servers.

Also being offered soon at a small cost to residential customers and as a part of the business plans is a Broadband Security Suite with features such as firewall and content filtering to ensure the protection of both home and office PC systems.
