It’s that feeling you get once in a while, that feeling that, once it’s got a hold of you, won’t let go until you do something about it – and fast.
That’s right – you need a vacation, and you need it bad. But you can’t spare the cash, or the time and hassle, to get on a plane and go somewhere off-Island.
But help is here, and it’s much, much closer than you think.
The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman is offering a special treat for residents in need of a weekend getaway, and it’s a doozy.
The Ritz Locals Only Reconnect package provides a fantastic way to indulge in some affordable luxury right on your back doorstep.
And yes, as the name implies, you’ll be able do some serious reconnecting – be it with your inner beauty queen, duffer, or sun-worshipper self, not to mention a loved one, at one of Cayman’s top resorts.
While many of us enjoy an occasional excursion to the Ritz for a few cocktails, a corporate event or a fabulous dinner, it’s not really a possibility to get the full Ritz experience.
Now, the CI$399.00 Reconnect package includes accommodations, gourmet buffet breakfast for two at 7, the Ritz’s bustling poolside eatery, and a $100 resort credit that can be used for anything at the 114-acre resort except for the Tiffany & Co. boutique (not such a loss, if you think about it for half a second).
That means aside from the chance to experience a five-star hotel room on the Caribbean sea, your stay can feature a long-overdue trip to the Silver Rain La Prairie Spa, a decadent fine foods shopping spree at Cupboard, or the chance to knock some balls around on the grass court at the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Centre.
With the luxury of an early-afternoon check-in, you can take things further by arriving early and spending some well deserved extra lounging time by the pool or at the lovely beach.
Once settled in your room, make haste to Blue, Cayman’s top-rated restaurant for an unbelievably affordable dinner off the small plates menu. At the astonishingly low price of $18 for three inventive dishes, two can dine on concoctions like sweet bell pepper croquettes, boquerones, stuffed peppers and falafels.
A good way to round off your feast is a digestif in the hotel’s sophisticated Silver Palm Lounge before heading out, or, better yet, hitting the plush comfort of your king size bed in your lavishly-appointed room. It’s a whole new level of movie night.
For anyone with even a fair to middling interest in the game of golf, a round at the fantastic 9-hole Blue Tip golf course, only open to resort guests, is now within glorious reach.
And the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman’s communications director Melissa Ladley is hoping residents will try to take advantage of the chance to play the 9-hole Greg Norman designed course.
‘This package is the best way for local residents to experience the golf. Technically you can register up to three people per room and then each hotel room booked can invite one guest to play, so then you have a foursome play,’ she says.
So even if only you have your sights set on an afternoon of exotic spa treatments, your other half can summon a pal and hit the links.
Green fees, cart fees, range balls and the welcome services of a top-notch forecaddie are included in the price of the round. And clubless golfers can rest easy – the Ritz offers top-notch Nike rentals for only $25 for nine holes. Hacks be warned – water hazards abound, so expect see the majority of your balls for the first and last time.
But if for you, reconnecting means lounging about like a committed idler and sipping tropical cocktails to your heart’s content, the weekend still offers a variety of opportunities to experience the resort’s les exhausting amenities at a stately pace sure to transport you far away from the daily grind.
After all, it’s all about doing it your way. Reconnect – it’s just the ticket.
