Monday marked the 80th anniversary of the Marriott company and the 50th year in the lodging business.
Marriott has adopted the annual tradition of Associate Appreciation Week whereby they celebrate exactly this. Marriott recognizes it is their associates that are responsible for reaching these milestones and furthermore ensuing Marriott as the successful industry leader that it is today.
Celebrating milestones is an important part of the Marriott culture, and as such, the Marriott Beach Resort’s Managing Director Walter Regidor, would like to launch the week by paying tribute to each and every one of his associates.
‘I would like to take this opportunity to publicly recognize our associates for the dedication and perseverance that they continually demonstrate. This is an exciting time for us and each year I am further convinced of the integral value of taking this week to celebrate one another.’
In the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan in 2004 the property underwent renovations exceeding $15 million and re-opened in the fall of 2005.
Marriott Beach Resort has since been through a transition from a franchised property to a Marriott-managed property. This took tremendous efforts on behalf of all associates; it was a collective effort made by all associates to bring the Marriott Beach Resort to the standard that it is today.
‘I have only been with the Grand Cayman Marriott for five months and already I feel like a part of the family. I was welcomed with the warm and friendly manner that I have come to recognize to be uniquely true of the Caymanian culture in general,’ said Mr. Regidor. ‘I have worked in many countries and I have found Cayman’s culture to be particularly hospitable. At the Marriott Beach Resort we work everyday to extend this same hospitality to our guests.’
