This game has been made possible due to the relationship between Captain Horace Burrell CEO of the Captain’s Bakery in Grand Cayman who is also Vice President of Caribbean Football Union, executive member of CONCACAF and Vice President of the Clarendon Football Association in collaboration with Jeffery Webb President of the Cayman Island Football Association.

Clarendon All Stars is an affiliate of the Clarendon Football Association and comprises of players selected from the seven top Major League teams from the parish of Clarendon in Jamaica.

Fothergill has been playing football from he was seven years old when he started attending Gravel Hill Primary School in Clarendon. At this level he established himself as a forward player and went on to play in the Dacosta Cup competition wearing the colors of the Garveo Maceo Comprehensive High School his Alma Mater.

Based on his records he created a great impression at this level and after leaving high school was invited to play for a Super League team (the second highest level of football competition in Jamaica) called Platinum FC.

Fothergill, who scored 13 goals in the Captains Bakery Major League competition this season, also played for Super League team Los Perfectos for two seasons.

“I am overwhelmed with just the thought of going to play these top teams in Grand Cayman. I will be representing my parish and Country to the best of my ability giving the games (150 %) one hundred and fifty percent of my efforts just to win these games,” Fothergill said.

He went on to say that his team was a strong team that always rose to the occasion therefore he had great confidence that a good performance level was going to be displayed.

Another player to watch will be twenty five year old Dwayne Ballentine a former player of the Olympic Gardens Super League team and former National Premier League team Los Perfectos (now a Super League team) who netted ten goals this season. He started his football career as a youngster at the Edwin Allen High School in Clarendon where he propelled his team to the top four in 2002.

Ballentine will be the engine in midfield and will be supported with the actions of Rohan Smith another outstanding midfielder, Winston Gilzene and Rickert Graham.

Forming the defense line will be goal keeper Noel Austin, Central defender Bryan Brown, Etwal Coleman and Luke Dennis. Seventeen year old Garth Heron will be the reserve custodian.

Ballentine said that he was glad for this chance to get overseas experience in playing the game and would love to see his team winning these games.

“I am looking forward to gain some experience playing these games, I plan to score at least two goals and set up as many as I can,” Ballentine said.

Meanwhile Head Coach of the All Stars Lance Robinson said that it was all excitement in the camp as most of the players have never traveled abroad before and pointed out that the recent poor weather conditions had hampered the training sessions.

“The squad is very excited at the moment about traveling abroad to play football, this is an excellent incentive as part of the sponsorship given by the Captains Bakery. We have been doing intensive work preparing the teams both mentally and physically. In spite of the weather conditions they are in high spirits and we hope to have victory over these teams although we have no idea how well they play,” Robinson stated.

Robinson went on to say that this was a good effort by Captain Horace Burrell and Jeffrey Webb as it will boost the moral of the youngsters who love to play the sports.

I want to thank Captain Burrell and Jeffrey Webb and I hope that this will open more doors not only to the Clarendon Football Association players but to the entire island this indeed a great start.” pointed out.

The official sponsors of this event are The Captain’s Bakery, Western Union and Admiral Cayman Island.
