Residents of the Cayman Islands will be singing their way through hurricane preparations this year with the release of local kitchen band Swanky’s new preparedness song Hurricane Season, said a press release.
The song, commissioned by the National Hurricane Committee, deals with simple things to always bear in mind when preparing for hurricane season.
‘People are bombarded with hurricane preparedness messages, so we thought it would be good to do something different this year,’ says NHC Chairman Donovan Ebanks.
The song is cleverly written to include the must do’s for hurricane season.
Swanky Bandleader Samuel Rose said he was excited about the song’s release.
‘The region does not have a hurricane song as yet, and hurricane season could easily serve as a regional anthem. There is definitely great potential for its dissemination across the Caribbean and Florida in the US, putting Cayman’s traditional music on the map.’
