Take God’s word literally

Reading the letter that was published on 11 July, two statements caught my eye.

The first was ‘How can we Caymanians who live so free be so ignorant as to tell others how they should live their lives.’

I realise how far away we are from the truth. Some of us always felt that what is good for the outside world is good enough for the Cayman Islands.

The reason we live so free is because of God’s grace and mercy. The Bible says ‘where there is sin more grace abounds.’

Spirit of God was on earth before sin came in so we did not do anything to live free.

The second statement relates to those persons who will try to use the Bible to condemn sinners.

The reason for Bible thumping to condemn others is this: just as the Israelites turned their backs on God and did things their way, we have done the same thing to His Son by also disobeying Him.

He came not only to die for us but to bring His kingdom and way of living to earth. We, in turn, formed our own kingdoms, wrote our own constitutions and our own laws, created our own priests and have taken the Bible and expected God’s word to agree with what we have done. Man’s constitution comes with a spirit but it is not the spirit of God.

Today the blood of Jesus Christ is not needed, the righteousness of God is not needed and you do not need the Father to bring you to the Son. You have only to be in the right place at the right time to get your titles.

It is no wonder that God said: ‘Everyone can be saved but everyone will not be saved,’ and our High Priest Jesus also said ‘Not everyone who says: ‘Lord, Lord’ shall enter into the kingdom of Heaven’.

The kingdom of Jesus is on earth and thank God that part of that kingdom is in the Cayman Islands.

As in the days of Elijah, we all have not bowed to the constitution of Baal but have chosen to obey the word of our Father, Jehovah God Almighty. We have received the spirit of truth for our teacher knowing he was sent to us by our High Priest, Jesus and we have also received His words as gospel to be taught.

As Jesus promised, we will have abundant life if we do as He said because we cannot do anything without Him. He is the vine and we are the branches and we have taken His words literally.
