A new chapter set to unfold at Camana Bay

Camana Bay is opening a new chapter in the literary life of the Cayman Islands, with Books & Books – one of America’s leading, independent booksellers – confirmed as one of the town’s new stores.

Covering 4,700 square foot, Books & Books is set to open its doors this autumn during the Town Centre’s opening weekend of festivities planned for 2 to 4 November. It is hoped the store will serve as a neighbourhood cultural centre, offering an ongoing schedule of diverse author events and cultural programmes, including author readings, book signings and book club discussions.

The store will include a wide array of titles such as fine fiction, art and architecture, poetry, classics, bestsellers, cookbooks and travel guides. A colourful children’s section, alongside regular storytelling sessions, will help bring books to life for young readers.

Adjoining the store there will also be an internet coffee shop – CafĂ© del Sol.

‘Our goal is very much in keeping with Camana Bay’s idea of creating a beautiful community where people can live, work, study, dine and be entertained, all in close proximity,’ proprietor Mitchell

Kaplan, a co-founder of Miami Book Fair International and past president of the American Booksellers Association, said.

Founded in 1982, by Mitchell Kaplan, Books & Books is South Florida’s premiere independently-owned bookstore, with three locations – Coral Gables, Miami Beach and Bal Harbour Shops.

‘Books & Books has an outstanding reputation for innovation and individuality, and will be a great addition to Camana Bay,’ Jackie Doak, executive Vice president of Dart Realty, the developers of Camana Bay, said. ‘We are particularly excited to be included on their literary event circuit, which we hope will bring authors from all around the world to Cayman.’
