A new bar has opened its doors on Shedden Road, promising to be a favourite watering-hole with residents and locals alike.
Helium Lounge, located in Burke Maud Plaza at the old Punta Latino bar, opened its doors last Friday, and is already proving popular.
The bar, co-owned by Dwayne Seymour, Peterkin Berry and Gladston Buckley, has been completed re-vamped offering a fresh, clean look.
‘We wanted to create something better for the people who used to come here, while also attracting new customers,’ Mr. Seymour said.
Inside, Helium offers a spacious bar and dance area, with ample seating options. Outside there’s a patio area, ideal for those who would prefer to enjoy the Caribbean sunshine.
Opening shortly, the kitchen will serve up a selection of locally-inspired food, including conch, turtle and stewed chicken.
A happy hour is held every Friday, from 4pm to 7pm, with a local DJ spinning a selection of Caribbean-style music, while local band Impulse are scheduled to play on the bar’s spacious patio from 5pm to 9pm.
Event Culture Saturdays will be held weekly, from 4pm to 7pm, with local band Love Culture keeping all entertained, followed by a DJ from 7pm until late.
Planned are also a weekly jam night, Latin evening and karaoke.
Helium is open Monday to Thursday, 10am to 1am, Friday, 10am to 2am, Saturday 10am to midnight, Sunday 11am to midnight. Lunch served from 10am to 2pm; dinner 6pm until close. Helium is designated a no-smoking venue.
