Remembering Durty’s

I became acquainted with Durty Reid’s on my first full day in Cayman when Randy Merren took me to lunch along with Billy McLaughlin and Randy Cable.

Not being sure what to order I took a chance on the jerk pork.

Billy was especially amused by watching me mop my brow between bites of the tasty, but spicy dish.

A short time later the late Mr. Johnny Merren (whom I am convinced never met a stranger in his life) became the first Caymanian to buy me a drink.

Later I made Durty’s my unofficial headquarters for meeting with friends, politicians and even a newspaper publisher.

Thanks for the memories, Reid!
