Caribbean Utility Company is urging customers to make preparations for potential disruption of electricity service, which may result from the approaching Hurricane Dean if the storm maintains its present track and approaches our area by Sunday evening.
Disruption of service may be experienced in isolated areas due to inclement weather conditions on the outer bands of the storm or island-wide due to an orderly system-wide shutdown as hurricane force winds set in. In either case customers should be prepared to be without for an extended period of time, as CUC linemen will not be able to conduct repairs until winds have subsided to a safe level.
CUC will continue to monitor the storm’s progress and will endeavour to advise customers in advance of any potential system-wide shutdown.
Customers are advised to call CUC’s Fault Reporting Hotline at 945-1CUC (1282) to report outages or 911 to report downed power lines if either has occurred before the Company announces loss of service in an area or island-wide.
