After 10 years of operation in the Red Bay Plaza, Dragon Garden Restaurant No. 1 is relocating to Countryside Shopping in Savannah.
The move is to facilitate the Government’s plans in building a new highway from Shamrock Road in Red Bay to Hirst Road in Newlands.
Dragon Garden Restaurant No. 1 closed its doors to the public 5 August and aims to reopen in Countryside no later than September.
‘Pending inspection, we will have our grand re-opening,’ informed the General Manager, Poh Ching.
‘Red Bay was a good location for us,’ said Chef William Ching. ‘But Countryside has many people passing through, and we are sure to attract new customers once we relocate,’ he added.
Although the restaurant in Red Bay Plaza is now closed, loyal customers and Chinese food lovers can still visit Dragon Restaurant No. 2, at Regency Court on West Bay Road. Dragon Garden No. 2 is open for buffet service Monday-Friday from 11am-2.30pm and lunch on Saturdays and Sundays; dinner from 5-10pm Sunday-Thursday and closing at 10:30 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, or by calling 946-0303 for delivery.
‘We feel sad, especially for our customers,’ said Poh Ching, ‘We’d like to thank them for all their patronage through the years and we hope they will continue supporting us when we move to Countryside.’
Poh Ching, brother William Ching, and restaurant owner Glennis Smith have been in the restaurant industry for almost 14 years, first opening a Chinese eatery in West Bay in 1994. They also operate Mandarin Buffet, Oriental Market, and China Arts and Crafts.
Popular for a quick lunch, Mandarin Buffet is open from 11am-8.30pm and is also adding a new sushi bar to serve their George Town based customers.
