Breezy Castle celebrated the start of construction on its disaster recovery suites recently with a groundbreaking ceremony.
The facility has been designed by OBM International, following their success with the disaster recovery centre at Citrus Grove and One Technology Square, and is represented by IRG Ltd.
Cindy O’Hara of OBM commented that ‘this is a unique development will be built to the highest of standards in anticipation of critical conditions.’
Breezy Castle provides full disaster recovery protection in the event of a catastrophe, with a substantial infrastructure, designed to withstand a Category 5 hurricane.
The construction utilises high quality poured concrete and steel bunkers. The ground floor units’ slabs are eight feet above sea level with an option of raising the floor an additional six feet. The roof of the building is surrounded by a five foot concrete parapet wall, providing protected off ground parking, while the electricity supply will be maintained by a full back-up generator located on the second floor.
Jeremy Hurst, of IRG, said on the development schedule the units would be ready for occupancy around mid-July 2008. ‘It is also possible to take more than one unit and connect them with interior doors.’ Eight units have already been reserved, leaving 25 currently available.
The developers of Breezy Castle, Danny and Peggy O’Hara owners of Prestige Motors Ltd. will be moving the company showroom and offices to the development as anchor tenant, as well as taking care of all the on-site management. ‘It will be good to have a local, hands-on guy there taking care of things during a storm,’ said Hurst.
