Two years ago Deloitte was the first company to subscribe to the Fund’s Pledge Campaign, whereby staff and partners committed to donate 50 per cent of the total each, over 24 months.

‘Having made the final payment of the pledge this month, on behalf of all the partners I would like to say how extremely proud we are of our staff and also congratulate the Fund for all they have achieved in helping to rebuild our island since Hurricane Ivan,’ Ian Wight, Managing Partner of Deloitte, said in a press release.

‘Knowing that the Fund has helped over 1,000 families makes us feel satisfied to have been a part of that.’

Not only did Deloitte make a significant cash donation, the firm also supported the Fund with its annual staff Impact Day, when all of Deloitte’s worldwide offices participate in local community projects. Here in Cayman teams of staff were involved in activities from delivering furniture to local families to assisting the Fund’s contractors on various work sites.

‘The outstanding contribution of Deloitte over a sustained period has made a huge difference to the work of the National Recovery Fund and to our efforts in the recovery process,’ said Governor Stuart Jack, Chairman of the National Recovery Fund’s Board of Trustees.

‘Not only did it have an impact on assisting many individuals directly, it also provided a very effective precedent and incentive for other groups to follow suit and make an important contribution as part of their civic responsibility to the people of the Cayman Islands.’

NRF Executive Director Mark Laskin added: ‘The NRF and all its beneficiaries are grateful to the staff of Deloitte for their generosity, which made it possible for many families to return to suitable living conditions.’

Although the NRF and Deloitte have reached a significant milestone, there is still work to be done. Deloitte will continue to work with the Fund through its staff Impact Days each year.
