FirstCaribbean supports first aid training

Committed to partnering with the community, FirstCaribbean International Bank is supporting the Red Cross in its initiative to provide free First Aid and CPR/AED training to all teachers in the Cayman Islands.

Benefiting both private and government schools at the pre-school, primary and secondary levels, the First Aid training teaches proper life saving skills needed in emergency situations, said a press release. The programme serves as an effective way for teachers and school staff to recognise and respond immediately to injuries, respiratory problems, and cardiac arrest.

FirstCaribbean is also partnering with the Red Cross to bring First Aid CPR/AED training to teachers in Cayman Brac, where only a handful have received their First Aid certification.

Mexi-Ann Grant, the Learning Community Leader at the Cayman Brac Teachers’ Centre, is thankful for the free First Aid training extended to Brac teachers.

‘We are very appreciative of this offer from FirstCaribbean and the Red Cross, which will allow approximately 20 teachers to participate in the programme. Our objective this school year is to have all the members of staff receive First Aid training.’

Manager of Quality Control and Assurance at the bank, Paul Stoll, said, ‘FirstCaribbean is very proud to continue our support of the Red Cross and their efforts to assist the community in the Cayman Islands.’

Mr. Stoll added, ‘It is important that members of the community are equipped with basic life saving skills, as you can never predict when a situation will occur that requires First Aid and CPR care.’
