Ritz-Carlton developer Mike Ryan said this week it is his company’s intention to keep the SafeHaven Golf Course open.
‘We value the local golfing community and look forward to developing closer ties in the coming months,’ he said.
Speaking on behalf of Waterworks Ltd./Fujigmo Ltd, Mr. Ryan pointed out again that the companies do not yet own the property.
‘As previously announces, we have entered into a contractual arrangement to acquire various properties at SafeHaven, including the golf course,’ he said. ‘Assuming the transaction is completed, our current intention is that the golf course should continue in operation, although we intend exploring ways to enhance the course and its facilities, and the overall golfing experience.’
Mr. Ryan said his companies would do their best to accommodate planned charity golf events.
‘And we hope to be able to make a proposal to host the Caribbean Golf Championship in August 2008,’ he said.
In addition, Mr. Ryan said his companies hope to provide many other opportunities for local golfers and visitors.
‘We will attempt, within commercial reasonableness, to make those opportunities as broad as possible,’ he said.
Because the sales transaction is not yet completed, Mr. Ryan said it was unlikely his companies could make any definitive statements on the matter until it has been.
‘But we will ensure the public is kept informed,’ he said.
