Sundancer Cruises and Kaibo Yacht Club are hosting a fundraising event, organised by Maples and Calder, to assist with medical expenses for Kaloyan “Coco” Kisyov.
Coco, a young Bulgarian native, who worked in the local watersports industry, sustained a paralyzing injury in mid-September when he slipped and fell off a boat in the shallow waters off Rum Point.
In dire need of help, friends and family are appealing for assistance.
Coco’s family lives in Bulgaria.
Hindered by bureaucracy, his father has finally been able to travel to Jamaica.
Coco’s mother works within the dentistry field, and his older brother is a policeman. He is very loved by his family, which is extremely worried about Coco’s situation and future,
His medical expenses continue to increase past the $25,000.00 cap provided by his health insurance.
Covering the rest of his medical bills is a big financial challenge, as the cost of his hospitalisation and subsequent move from Jamaica is conservatively estimated to be about $80,000.
The fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday and the ticket price is $25. The Sundancer will depart from the Safe Haven dock at 2pm, proceed to Kaibo, then to the Sandbar for a complimentary lunch and returning back to the Safe Haven dock at approximately 6pm.
According to Herbert Huddleston of Sundancer Cruises, the event will have a live DJ and a cash bar on board.
Several local suppliers have been very generous with their donations and the Sundancer crew, Kaibo staff and the DJ are all donating their time, so that all proceeds will go directly to Coco’s Fund for his medical expenses.
The Sundancer holds 150 passengers.
