When tennis fan Leighton McLeod found out this week that he had won a weekend prize to the Cayman Classic Pro-Am Tennis Tournament he was thrilled.
Mr. McLeod, who has been an avid follower of professional tennis for nine years, along with his wife Wendy, won the weekend package for two courtesy of the Residences at the Ritz-Carlton, the Caymanian Compass newspaper and www.caycompass.com
‘I was ecstatic,’ he said. ‘When I was notified I was lying in bed with back pain, so I couldn’t jump up or anything, but I immediately called my wife to tell her. She was also ecstatic,’ he said.
In fact, it is Mr. McLeod’s wife who inspired the interest in following tennis in him.
‘We follow the Masters, Wimbledon, the Australian Open. Our favourite current male player is Roger Federer while our favourite female is Justine Henin,’ he enthused.
Mr. McLeod, who is originally from Jamaica but has lived in Cayman for nine years and is the team leader for collections with the Health Services Authority, said he is also very enthused about spending a night at the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.
The prize package includes one night reservation for deluxe oceanfront accommodation on Saturday 8 December at the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, two admissions to Saturday’s Cayman Classic Tennis Ball with Chris Isaak, two admissions to the Friday Night Whites Beach party, two admissions to Saturday’s and Sunday’s Pro-Am tennis matches, two admissions badges for VIP Hospitality Lounge, one entry in Puttin’ on the Ritz nine hole- Golf Scramble.
