Under-Secretary of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Mrs. Meg Munn is the special guest speaker at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon which takes place Thursday at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort.
This will be Mrs. Munn’s first visit to the Cayman Islands since being appointed to the United Kingdom Parliament in July 2007.
She will deliver a speech titled A Sustainable Future for the Overseas Territories. She is expected to address many issues, such as sustainable development, the environment, economy, education, law and order, good governance, the constitution and human rights.
Governor Mr. Stuart Jack and his wife Mrs. Mariko Jack and ministers of Government have been invited to attend.
“We welcome Minister Munn’s visit and look forward to hearing the UK’s position as it relates to its evolving relationship with its Overseas Territories, particularly the Cayman Islands,” said Chamber President Mr. James Tibbetts. “We are delighted that Minister Munn has agreed to address the Chamber membership. We look forward to hearing the position of the UK on such issues as constitutional reform and the progress that has been made with implementing the Partnership for Progress and Prosperity position paper that was released by the UK several years ago.”
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office promotes UK and its territories interests abroad and works with international bodies to support a strong world community.
Mrs. Munn is the principal point of contact at the FCO for the Cayman Islands being responsible for Overseas Territories, Caribbean/Central America, South East Asia and consular policy.
