A Christmas story, indeed

Today I went to buy some Christmas cards (of course I’m late as usual), chose my cards and went to the counter to pay for them.

The computer was not working properly and I had to wait for my change.

A young man came to the counter to pay for his cards and the lady asked if he had the correct change.

He said he had.

Meanwhile I was still waiting and he said he would pay for mine as well.

Of course I said ‘no, no I can wait’.

The young man left the shop and I stood looking round at the decorations, when the lady said “He paid for yours as well”.

I could not believe her.

I was not looking forward to Christmas as I recently lost my daughter and I was a real Bah Humbug but now this young man has changed my outlook completely.

I will probably never see him again, or be able to repay him, but with his attitude he is going to make a fine life for himself and his family.

Thank you very much, and a very Happy Christmas to you and your family.
