Polar conditions were present at Rackams in George Town on Saturday as some brave souls took the plunge into ice-filled water all in aid of the Cayman Humane Society.
The Polar Plunge is a unique event where participants plunge themselves into a large pool filled with water and 7000lbs of crushed ice in order to win various prizes.
Sponsored by Mike’s Ice, Jacques Scott, Rackham’s and Z99, the event was the perfect way to chill out on a Saturday afternoon.
‘Everything went amazing. There was an excellent turnout and lots of participants. Many had even registered before the event started,’ said Marketing and Sales Manager with Mike’s Ice Sarah Harvey.
For the fee of $10 per plunge, which is being donated to the Cayman Humane Society, participants had the chance to find coupons at the bottom of the ice-filled pool for airline tickets, hotel stays and much more.
Participants described the plunge as ‘awesome’, ‘refreshing’ and ‘exhilarating’ while another shivering partaker said, ‘I’m never doing that again’.
The day also saw some Humane Society dogs present for the event along with a live broadcast on Z99 and plenty of drink specials to add to the fun event.
