Hurley’s kicks tobacco

Hurley’s Supermarket is getting out of the tobacco business.

Owner Randy Merren says his stores will no longer sell tobacco products once the current stock runs out.

‘The profitability is not there any more,’ said Mr. Merren. ‘Fewer and fewer people are using tobacco these days. The sales have dropped over the past few years. It is another step we are taking to contribute to the betterment of Cayman’s health.’

Hurley’s recently stopped cooking with oils that contain trans fats and have expanded their selection of organic/natural foods.
