I was almost in tears when I read the story about the Blue Iguanas.

How can people be so cruel?

However, I wonder why these endangered animals are not monitored or guarded throughout the night in case of emergencies like this (or in case of fire)?

I appreciate the work of the National Trust and commend them for their commitment to our natural heritage up to and including this incident.
