Staff tee-off for animal welfare

Recruitment company BrightStaff has shown its support for the improvement of Cayman’s animal welfare by donating CI$300 to the Cayman Islands Humane Society.

BrightStaff raised part of the proceeds from the recent RE/MAX Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic held in April. The event was hosted at the Britannia Golf Club and players were encouraged to make a donation.

BrightStaff’s Naomi Mitten said: ‘We were thrilled to make the donation to such a worthwhile cause and we are grateful to all the generous individuals who contributed at the golf event.

‘My colleague Justin and I volunteer time at the weekends at the shelter to assist in providing care for the animals – walking the dogs is an easy, enjoyable activity for anyone to participate in and provides a much needed break for the animals.’

Shelter Manager Sugar Evans, said: ‘We are grateful for BrightStaff’s donation which will help us to improve animal welfare in Cayman.

‘The Cayman Islands Humane Society relies heavily on support like this from local organisations and the community to carry out its mission.’

Ms Evans and her team of dedicated volunteers spend countless hours caring for a large number of animals at the shelter. Currently there are 127 animals housed at the shelter and in need of a good home.

An alternative way to help the animals is by donating to the Thrift Store and Book Store located upstairs from the shelter.

All proceeds go towards the operation of the Cayman Islands Humane Society and to helping the animals.
