Martinis and fantasy at Sapphire show

Local Sapphire bartender Jason Pierotti has swapped his cocktail shaker for brushes.

Inspired by regularly changing art shows held at Sapphire Martini Lounge the bartender decided to hold his own show.

‘I have never really been into painting,’ Jason said, ‘but I started to become a fan of art and to pay attention to the exhibitions on show at Sapphire.

‘I have to admit, it did surprise me. I started to learn what styles I liked, what I didn’t. Some pieces I really liked, but I couldn’t afford them. I simply decided to give it a go myself.’

The artwork has been a resounding success with over half the pieces sold and two commissions.

Naturally, many of the colourful pieces feature martinis. Others are themed around fantasy.

‘I have huge respect for painters now. There is a lot more to it than people think,’ Jason said. ‘I’m definitely going to keep painting; it’s something that I really enjoy.’

Sapphire, located in Seven Mile Shops, has been holding monthly art shows for the past two years. Past artists include Zoe Blount and Renate Seffer. Jason’s artwork will be on show through May and June. An exhibition by Georgette Bodden will be held in July.
